Finally... some news about West Ham!

The Hammers revolution is well under way after the report that we are now negotiating for 5 players and hopefully will be able to confirm at least one of them signing on by next week. New gaffer Sam Allardyce has set about the rebuilding process by trying to bring in players he believe will lead us to a return to the top division.

Newcastle's Alan Smith has been linked with the club after sources revealed he had been told he is free to leave Newcastle. Once a prolific striker he has now converted to a tough tackling centre midfielder and with Scott Parker pretty much guaranteed to return to the premier league a new player in the centre of the park would be welcomed.

A slightly more high profile signing is Liverpool's Joe Cole, having come through the ranks at West Ham he could make a sensational return to the Hammers. Another player that is apparently linked with the club is Blackburn's El Hadji Diouf after he indicated that he would like to reunite with Sam Allardyce, his manager at Blackburn and Bolton.

West Ham seem extremely confident that at least one of these premier league players will make the step down to the Championship in exchange for regular first team football. I'm not too confident that many players will want to sacrifice their premier league status but hopefully I am proved wrong.

After Kevin Nolan, who Allardyce knows well after their time at Bolton, surprisingly rejected a new contract at Newcastle he too became a potential target for the Hammers. Out of all five possible signings I see this one as the most unrealistic and least likely to happen.

The last player of the 5 is Blackpool front man DJ Campbell, after scoring 13 league goals last year for his team he too has found himself on Big Sam's Wishlist.

I would be very happy to see players such as Joe Cole and Alan Smith come in as I believe our midfield will definitely be weaker when Parker decided to leave (I think it is when he leaves and not if he leaves). I'm not a huge fan of El Hadji Diouf, as a footballer or as a human being and wouldn't really be too happy seeing him turn out in the claret and blue of West Ham. I feel that it is important we have a striker next season who can score us 20-25 goals and having proven himself at the top level I would fully back DJ Campbell to do that should he be signed. Finger's crossed Demba Ba does not decide to leave as I believe that would be a prolific strike partnership well capable of firing us back to the Premier League.

Come on you irons!
