£13million for a manager? You must be joking...

ROMAN ABRAMOVICH is splashing a world record £13.25million to make Andre Villas-Boas boss of Chelsea.

That is the astonishing cost of the release clause to take Villas-Boas, 33, from Porto - a record for any football manager transfer. Unbelievable. This would make him by far the most expensive manager of all time and will probably be one of Chelsea's biggest purchases this summer!

Villas-Boas, who learned his trade under Sir Bobby Robson and Jose Mourinho, took charge at Porto last summer. He led them to four trophies in one season - the Europa League plus the Portuguese League, Cup and Super Cup. That isn't too shabby for a first season in charge. This has led to him be referred to as the new Jose Mourinho.

According to reports, he will earn €5m (£4.4m) a season, the exact salary José Mourinho earned at the west London club. Guus Hiddink is still linked with club but is more likely to take up a role as the director of football.

At 33 the potential new gaffer is one of the youngest managers out there and I'm sure, should he be appointed, he will bring fresh ideas to the club and hopefully breathe new life into an ageing old squad. At £13.2 million he will have the added pressure of that price tag hanging over his head as well, good luck!

I would much rather prefer to see a new young fresh manager at the helm at Chelsea as I feel there is more chance of change occurring at the club and this will lead to the team to really challenge for the title once more this season, I would like to see who he would bring in this summer as well, apparently Porto striker Falcao could possibly be following his manager to Chelsea? Who knows... All that Chelsea have stated is that they will hopefully unveil the new manager in the next couple days, at the money they purchased him for, he better be worth it.
